When losing weight, you need to put many factors together to improve your chances of losing weight safely and keeping it off permanently. »Make a commitment! Lose weight for you and not someone else. »Get your priorities straight. »Set a realistic goal. Don't set a weight goal that is unrealistic for you to reach. Set weekly and/or monthly goals. »Learn to enjoy more healthful foods. Concentrate on limiting fat, increasing fruits and veggies and whole-grains. »Get and stay active. Try to do something at least 5 times per week for 30 minutes like taking a brisk walk. (Check with your doctor before starting an exercise program). »Change your lifestyle. Weight loss needs to be a permanent lifestyle change and not just a temporary situation. |

| Having problems with a sweet tooth? Try healthier ways to satisfy that sweet tooth. Ideas include: dried fruit; puree frozen strawberries and freeze them in a Popsicle container; freeze grapes or bananas; make a smoothie in the blender with yogurt, ice and some canned crushed pineapples or apricots, fresh fruit, yogurt or a handful of dry cereal. If you are dying for a piece of candy, allow yourself to have it, just don't make a meal out of it. Don't let candy or other high sugar foods replace more nutritious ones. It is not realistic to never eat sweets again but you can cut down and eat them in moderation! | ![]() |
