Going Veggie? (By: Kimberly A. Tessmer, RD LD)
Are you thinking of becoming a vegetarian? Many people have switched over for reasons dealing with health, personal choice, etc... A vegetarian diet can be a wonderfully healthy diet IF it is planned correctly and well-balanced. However, a vegetarian diet is NOT automatically low in fat and calories. Vegetarian diets can be a disaster if you don't take the time to learn how to balance your diet and learn how to eat a variety of healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, lentils, soy products, etc... If you choose to include dairy products, choose low fat or fat free versions.

Taking a Pregnancy Break? (By: Kimberly A. Tessmer, RD LD)
You don't need to put your exercise routine on hold just because you are pregnant! Exercise can do moms-to-be a lot of good. They can ease stress, provide energy, keep muscles limber, keep you at a healthy weight gain, and make delivery easier. The key is to keep it SAFE! Focus on exercise that is low impact. Some of the most commonly recommended exercises for moms-to-be, especially in the second and third trimester, include walking, swimming, riding a stationary bike, and yoga. Make sure you wear comfortable clothing and good shoes with proper traction. ALWAYS check with your doctor before starting any exercise program!
